This pear smoothie is shockingly rich! Frozen Barlett pear chunks whip up ultra creamy in the blender. A little warmth from cinnamon and vanilla makes this one such a treat.

I truly cannot believe that this pear smoothie is even real! Itโ€™s rich like a chocolate shake, but the main ingredients are all pretty wholesome. Itโ€™s one of the more luscious vegan smoothie recipes Iโ€™ve ever worked on. Of course I already knew that the frozen pear base would yield creamy results given how much I love it in this vanilla chip smoothie. If you need to shake up your breakfast ideas throughout the week, I canโ€™t recommend this recipe enough.

I love to sneak chocolate into my mornings whenever possible. Thatโ€™s where the journey of this smoothie began. I knew that a smoothie with pears would be transcendent with a chocolaty flavor profile along with a little cinnamon and vanilla to lift it all up. I tried a version of this with frozen banana and pear, but found the banana to be too dominant. No banana here and 100% pears all the way!

I prefer ripe Bartlett pears in a smoothie. The mellow sweetness with a hint of acidity is just right. I chop them up (removing the core) and spread the pieces out on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Pop that into the freezer until the fruit is solid and then transfer the pieces to a sealed bag or container.

Some chocolate protein powder, plain yogurt, almond butter, and soy milk make this blend much more satiating for the morning hours. Do not skip the salt! I know it sounds weird, but it just elevates everything else going on here.

Hope you love this one! Itโ€™s my new fave. In my testing adventures, I found that the combo is also excellent with a little espresso shot blended in.

This tastes like a rich chocolate shake to me! Frozen chunks of ripe pear make this chocolate pear smoothie so incredibly lush and creamy. Cinnamon offers a warm spice lift in every sip!

  • Simpla or Yoggu are my favorite vegan yogurts.

This is delicious! I used my nutribullet instead of vitamix and it struggled a bit with the frozen pear so I had to add a little more milk. I also forgot the date but it was plenty sweet from the ripe pears. My scoop was not 3 tablespoons and I only noticed that note after the fact so Iโ€™ll try that way next time. As someone new to protein powders it seems the goal is to add as much as you can before you donโ€™t like what you are making anymore

Yum. I made this this morning and it was delicious. Coolly, subtly sweet with the pear flavour popping. Great to have non banana options. Thank you so much for all your fab recipes.

Just WOW! This tasted like a salted caramel chocolate shake. I canโ€™t believe how thick and smooth it is without any banana. I will be making this all the time. Thank you!

I was dreaming of this ever since I got the email. I dashed out to the shops buy the pears especially and I am not disappointed. Iโ€™m having it this morning boy itโ€™s delicious Rich creamy decadent but ultimately healthy for you. Itโ€™s just gone straight into my top five smoothie recipes, wonderful

Hi Laura, this sounds delicious! Do you have recommendations on how to keep that chocolatey taste without the flavored protein powder? I can only tolerate plain unsweetened protein powder. Iโ€™m thinking additional dates or maple sugar and an increase of cocoa powder? Not sure if that will work but I may give it a try. The frozen pear is a great idea.

Hi Sally! Yes, I would go up to a full tablespoon of cocoa powder and 2 pitted dates if youโ€™re using an unflavored protein powder. Coffee also naturally enhances chocolate flavor, so a little splash of cold brew coffee or a shot of espresso could enhance the smoothie overall.

Yum! So delicious! Thank you, Laura!! Love your recipe and your presentation.
To mine, I added a tablespoon of chia seeds and handful of arugula, and so needed more liquid, in form of 3/4 c hibiscus tea. Doesnโ€™t look quite as pretty but still tastes mighty fine. I love your recipe as the base and main part..
